By the time Vitamin was played and the hint of a mosh broke out down front, everyone was stepping it up a notch. The band further endeared itself to the local crowd when they busted out INXS’s hit Need You Tonight. Tracks that were not as well as known still caused people lose their minds, one guy who was clearly a diehard fan, was into it when Incubus started playing lesser known track Sick Sad Little World. Following on the band lept straight into a rendition of Pink Floyd’s original by the same name. And the guy that almost fell down the stairs with his tray of beer, in a mad scramble to rejoin his mates to belt out Wish You Were Here. This would be Melbourne’s first chance to hear tracks from their new album 8, as well revisit the countless hits and fan favourites from their expansive catalogue.Īmongst the highlights, there was the synchronised nodding of agreement and appreciation from the crowd as the riff for Nice To Know You kicked off. The crowd swelled to what must have been almost capacity by the time Incubus hit the stage they opened with their new song, Glitterbomb. The set was full of energy and she will have walked away from the gig with some new fans. That is exactly what Ecca and her band did downright owning the stage. As with most support slots you have to warm up the crowd and hopefully win some new fans. Whilst not quite at capacity, local act Ecca Vandal took the stage.
